Retrofit for the Future Competition
26.08.2009
Rybka has joined up The Holmes Partnership to collaboratively develop and design innovative solutions to address the challenge of sustainable housing refurbishment in accordance with the Governments Heat & Energy Strategy. The Retrofit for the Future competition was announced by the Prime Minister and Lord Drayson and is designed to promote radical, innovative solutions to the housing refurbishment challenge. £10M is pledged to design teams around the UK who will represent a variety of building types.
Rybka and The Holmes Partnership will work on behalf of the Cube Housing Association and are developing forward thinking ways of delivering sustainable, pioneering and cost effective design solutions that will see its housing stock meet the key objectives of the Governments Heat and Energy Strategy. To date Rybka and The Holmes Partnership have developed techniques for the application of passivhaus design principals to public sector housing refurbishment. The next step is to realise the design in two 1060's semi-detatched houses in Glasgow.
